This
past year has been pivotal for Trinity ECW. We began this season
missing half of our co-president team, as Dawn Goodman left for
Albuquerque. Trying to fill both my role and hers has been challenging
at best, and exhausting at the least.
We started with a
productive board meeting in September, and laid the plans for keeping a
diverse and active schedule for the year. The board members for this
year are: Treasurer: Elise Reed, Corresponding Secretary: Grace Rouse,
World Missions: Sue Ellen Katancik, Home
Missions: Anna Gray Pruett, Fellowship Coordinator: Janet
Hoerner, UTO: Maureen Bailey, Small Groups:
Joyce Singleton, Spiritual Life: Ellen Bost.
We celebrated a very
successful BBQ fundraiser in October.
We
sold 550 BBQs in less than 1.5 hours, and sent many folks away empty
handed. The proceeds totalled over
$1200.00. We are still searching for a new lady to take the reins of
this important ministry. We look
forward to an equally successful Soup Fundraiser (Allison
D’Aruzio) in January. Please let Allison
or me know if you would like to help. These funds help us support Tania
Santos at Our Little Roses home in Hondouras,
York Place, Trinity Learn and Play, and many other worthy causes.
Additionally, through the individual donations of members, we have
continued the sponsorship of Katherine Marisol,
also at Our Little Roses. We are short of the needed 12 sponsors for
2007. If you are able to give $60.00 in support of these special young
girls, please see Sue Ellen Katancik.
We will meet November
29th to make gift packs for both our boarding
school and college students as well as homebound parishioners. We fear
we may not have had a complete list of our students away from home. If
your child was left out this year, we apologize. Please make sure you
call the church office and let them know the child’s correct address.
Our UTO ingathering was November 11th. Thank you for your
generous giving.
With the addition of
monthly “Ladies’ Night Out” we have reached last year’s goal of
increasing the circle of women choosing to actively attend ECW
functions. The Lord has taken this fellowship and moved it into further
service in his name! In October this group, with the financial support
of so many ECW ladies, spent an evening preparing almost 100 meals to
have on had in the Trinity freezer to be made available to the Pastoral
Care team when need is identified. These delicious meals can be
prepared quickly and taken to homes of Trinity members who could benefit
from the healing power of a home cooked meal. Many
thanks to Cathy Tomlinson of Bijou Beads for donating a portion of her
proceeds last month to fund the replenishment of these meals when the
supply dwindles. If you are available to cook and deliver these
meals when the need arises, please talk to Dana Armstrong or Grace
Rouse.
Speaking
of Grace Rouse… Thank you, thank you for all your hard work as
Corresponding Secretary this year. If you have received a card or note
from ECW this year, it was lovingly sent by Grace. She has also been
instrumental to the success of the “Prayer Cycle” ministry we have
established this year. Every week, she prepares 6-8 postcards telling
of the intention of ECW to pray over your life for that week. The list
is alphabetical, and if you have not received yours yet, you will when
you least expect it, and maybe, need it most. These postcards are
prayed over by Ellen Bost and her prayer
team as we try to share the power of prayer with every woman at
Trinity. We are so excited by the response we have received to this
simple, yet important, ministry.
Finally, we wish to use
this report as an invitation to all women who still are unfamiliar with
ECW, and its many activities, to find out how you can touch lives, and
enrich your own through Trinity ECW. Perhaps you will join us for our
annual retreat in Murrells Inlet Jan 11-12. See Amy Jordan or Susan
Rivenburgh to register. Keep an eye out
also for the Lenten Quiet Day planned for early March in coordination
with Daughters of the King.
This report is respectfully submitted by, Amy Jordan,
ECW President
